Pete Davidson is mourning the death of his beloved dog Henry, who he said saved his life.
The comedian, 29, took to social media to share the news that his two-year-old family pup had died suddenly.
Davidson had welcomed Henry to his home at the start of lockdown, admitting that he wasn’t "sure I’d even be around without him”.
The Saturday Night Live comedian, who was not able to celebrate the release of his new TV series Bupkis due to the sad news, does not have a social media account so shared a touching post on the Instagram page of his friend and colleague Dave Sirus.
“Henry was only two years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast,” he wrote alongside a series of snaps of himself with Henry and his sister Casey.
“My mom, sister and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives. Not sure I’d even be around without him.
“He was the happiest and sweetest dog ever. He used to get excited when he saw me and would pee everywhere.
“When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling and making noise when I came on screen.
“He was truly the best.”
He added: “My mom, sister and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters.”
Other images included Henry wearing a bandana and Davidson in a face mask holding Henry who is wearing a shirt with the words “Good Dog” on it.
The comedian, who famously dated Kim Kardashian for six months last year, was inundated with well wishes from fans and fellow animal lovers.
The announcement comes after news that Davidsion’s return to Saturday Night Live for a debut one-off hosting stint this weekend will not go forward.
The show was temporarily axed amid the ongoing Hollywood writers strike by the members of the Writers Guild of America.
