Pete Davidson devastated over death of family dog who 'saved his life' during lockdown

Pete Davidson has announced the sad news that his beloved dog Henry has died.

The Saturday Night Live comic isn’t on Instagram, but shared a message on close friend and colleague Dave Sirus’ account.

Revealing Henry ‘got sick very fast’, the 29-year-old shared his family got the cockapoo at the start of lockdown, so was only two when he passed away.

Posting a series of photos of himself and younger sister Casey with the puppy, Pete credited Henry with ‘saving our lives’, adding: “Not sure I’d even be around with him.”

In a ‘message from Pete’, the post said: “Hey guys. I know today is the Bupkis [Pete’s new series] premiere day but I wanna use today to remember my dog Henry.”

He continued: “Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family. Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast.

“My mom, sister and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives. Not sure I’d even be around without him.”

Paying tribute to his pet pooch, Pete said: “He was the happiest and sweetest dog. He used to get so excited when he saw me and would pee everywhere.

“When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling and making noises when I came on screen.

“I don’t ever really watch any of my stuff with anyone as I’m far too scared, but I didn’t mind watching with Henry. He was truly the best.

“My mom, sister and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters. Pete.”

Fans were quick to show their support in the comments underneath with one writing: “They really are angels on earth. RIP Henry.”

Another commented: “I’m so sorry Pete. Dogs are truly like family except they never do anything wrong and are always happy to see us.”

A third said: “Exactly feel your pain. My love Larry passed suddenly in August and we are still devastated. Maybe Henry is playing with Larry.”

“Oh nooo... we have a 7 month old puppy. She is currently saving both our lives, it’s unreal... and this would be truly it for me. To Pete, so sorry for his sweet baby,” a fourth wrote.

While a fifth added: “Oh Pete, we love you so much sweetheart. I’m so sorry you’re hurting this way. We lost our dear Bravo this year and it was devastating. Our hearts are with you son. And not to put too much pressure on you darling, but your awesome/pragmatic comedy is what helped us get through the pandemic.”

Pete’s post comes days after he bumped into ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala on Monday night.

The pair split nine months ago but still looked very friendly as they chatted at the exclusive event in New York hosted by Vogue Editor Anna Wintour.

A photo of Pete talking to Kim and singing legend Usher has been doing the rounds – with many fans speculating Pete and Kim could get back together.

Taking to Twitter , one person wrote: "Fingers crossed Kim and Pete hook up tonight."

Another suggested: "Maybe Pete and Kim will get back together after this… #MetGala2023," while a third fan seemed certain: "Kim and Pete getting back together."

The pair, who previously walked the 2022 Met Gala together, "decided to just be friends" after struggling with their demanding work schedules.
