Pete Carroll running 50 yards in his white dad shoes will probably be the most impressive thing about the Seahawks this year

Pete Carroll has gotten this far as an NFL head coach because he earns the respect of his players. He relates to them. He bonds with them. He even plays extremely elaborate practical jokes on them. There seems to be nothing the man won’t do to win over his Seahawks players as he tries to coach a winner.

We saw the latest example of Carroll’s dedication to the coaching craft during Seahawks practice on Tuesday. As his players ran customary wind sprints, the 70-year-old Carroll joined in on the fun while wearing dad shoes and keeping a relative pace with elite football players.

Unfortunately for Carroll and the Seahawks, this run from the veteran coach will very likely be the most interesting (and impressive) thing about Seattle’s pro football team all season. Whether they’re fully committed to the process or not, the Seahawks are rebuilding. There’s a believable scenario where a 50-yard run from their coach in jogging shoes could certainly end up being longer than any of their players’ runs in the fall.

NFL fans loved seeing Carroll's spirit as a dad-shoes runner
