A pervert who sent explicit messages to what he thought were two young girls is facing spending Christmas behind bars.
Joshua Allott believed he had been talking to a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old online but they were actually decoys set-up by paedophile hunters from The Child Online Safety Team. A court heard that the 30-year-old was confronted by members of the group after he arranged to meet one of the "girls" at a hotel in North Tyneside, having travelled more than 100 miles from his home in Rotherham.
Allott, of Burman Road, in Rotherham, was arrested at the scene - the Travelodge, in Cobalt Business Park, near the Silverlink - and appeared before Newcastle Magistrates' Court this week. He pleaded guilty to two counts of an adult attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Prosecutor, James Long, said Allott started messaging the first fake profile, a 14-year-old girl, on February 2 this year. Despite knowing her age, he invited her perform sex acts on him and engage in penetrative sexual activity.
Mr Long told the court that, after that and between February 7 and 13, Allott began messaging the other fake profile, a 12-year-old girl. He started the conversation by asking a sexually obscene question, which she responded to by telling him her age.
Mr Long said: "Essentially, he's communicated with two fake profiles set-up by the Child Online Safety Team. I think the Prosecution's view is that these are matters that should be committed to the crown court."
District Judge Paul Currer agreed and released Allott on unconditional bail to next appear at Newcastle Crown Court or sentence on December 14. He said: "You have pleaded guilty to serious sexual offences. They are so serious that they cannot be dealt with at this court."
In the meantime, Allott must sign the Sex Offenders' Register.
