Pervert Lanarkshire nurse bombarded colleagues with obscene photos and sex act videos

A pervert nurse who bombarded female colleagues and students with sexual images and videos is facing jail.

Derek Revie left his victims disgusted and horrified after contacting them on Facebook and WhatsApp. He had been employed by NHS Lanarkshire caring for hospital patients with severe dementia since 2016.

But the 53-year-old began sending shocked colleagues unwanted explicit photos and videos showing him performing sex acts. Shamed Revie, who has been a mental health nurse since 1989, also sent graphic messages containing depraved sexual conduct to some of his victims as well as links to porn websites.

An investigation was launched after the women, some of whom were married, made complaints about his sickening conduct and police were called. He repeatedly blamed being drunk for sending the photos and also begged some victims not to report him to bosses.

Revie, of Motherwell, Lanarkshire, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted 10 charges of causing the women to look at sexual images between February 2019 and January last year. Depute fiscal Rebecca Clark said the victims were aged between 21 and 57 when they were targeted by Revie.

She told the court: "The accused has been a mental health nurse since 1989 for the NHS and in 2016 joined the hospital caring for patients with severe dementia. Whilst working within the ward, the accused built up a level of friendship with the victims in this case.

"All 10 victims in this case are also nurses or student nurses."

Describing one incident to the court, the prosecutor added: "A 52-year-old colleague was on duty and the accused texted her and they had a general conversation.

"Out of the blue, the accused texted: 'I need to tell you this. I need to f*** you' which caused her to be alarmed and distressed.

"The witness was so embarrassed by what the accused had sent her she did not mention it to him when they next worked together. A few weeks later she was at work when the accused texted her again describing in detail the sexual acts he would like to perform on her and she was so disgusted she reported the matter to her line manager and replied stating: 'This stops now. This is inappropriate and I've already told you previously to stop.'

"A few days later she confronted him at work regarding the messages he had been sending her and the accused apologised profusely stating: 'I was so drunk I can't even remember sending they messages'."

Sheriff Ray Small deferred sentence on Revie until September for reports and an extended risk assessment. Revie was placed on the sex offenders' register and had his bail continued.

NHS Lanarkshire said Revie no longer worked for them.

A spokeswoman from the health board said: "This individual is no longer in our employ."
