Pervert Doctor living in Ballsbridge shamelessly visits town where he sexually abused over 200 kids

A pervert doctor has shamelessly gone back to visit the town where he sexually abused 200 to 300 children,

Michael Shine didn't bat an eyelid or act as if he had done something wrong when he walked around the streets of Drogheda, Co Louth, a few weeks ago. The 89-year-old sex offender had abused his victims - the vast majority of them teenage boys at the time - at the nearby Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where he worked as a surgeon for decades.

One of his victims said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard he had the hard neck and the cheek to come back to Drogheda. If I had met him I might have done something really stupid.

"I know someone who saw him and they just could not believe he had come back to Drogheda. He really has no shame. He never apologised to us for what he did and in his own twisted head he still doesn't accept he did anything wrong.

"I am just so glad I didn't meet him because God only knows what might have happened."

Shine was only freed from the Midlands prison last February after serving a three year sentence for sexually abusing and indecent assault of seven boys between 1971-1992. However up to 300 victims have now come forward and claim he molested them. They are being represented by the voluntary group Dignity for Patients.

But yet only a handful have received any compensation so far after a row between the hospital insurer, the nuns who used to own and run the Lourdes Hospital plus the HSE. It is understood many of the victims are extremely annoyed that their civil cases didn't go to court and there is still no sign of compensation being paid.

The paedophile medic lives in a plush apartment in the Dublin 4 Ballsbridge area of the capital. He used to reside in a bungalow a few miles outside Drogheda. Almost all of his sexual assaults took place while working in the hospital.

A Garda source said there is no legal reason they can stop Shine visiting friends in Drogheda as he did not go near any of his victims.

"It is obviously upsetting if he had abused you and then you see him walking along the streets of Drogheda. He really should know better," the source added.
