Former tennis player Luis Horna, who currently serves as Peru's Davis Cup captain, has been fined $10,000 by the International Tennis Integrity Agency for promoting a betting operator. The agency also imposed a suspended six-month ban on Horna for his actions.
The ITIA revealed that Horna accepted the sanction after it was determined that his deal to promote betting on tennis in 2023 violated the sport's regulations regarding sponsorships with betting operators. Despite the violation, Horna cooperated fully with the investigation, expressed remorse, and promptly terminated the agreement.
At 43 years old, Horna achieved his highest singles ranking of No. 33 in 2004 before retiring as a player in 2009. In addition to his playing career, he has also taken on the role of a tournament director in Peru.
