Smash hit tennis stars from the region have been selected to represent Scotland in the upcoming Four Nations Junior Championships 2022.
Strathallan student Freya Cooper from Perth and Ollie Anderson, a Morrison’s Academy pupil, will compete at Scotstoun in Glasgow with U14 team-mates from September 23-25.
Having represented Scotland in the same event 12 months ago, Freya said she is ready to build on her previous experience and help Scotland bring home the title.
Freya, ahead of getting under way, explained: “I’m really excited to be playing for my country at the Home Nations for the second year in a row.
“l really enjoyed it last year and can’t wait to get on the court with my team-mates.”
Head of tennis at Strathallan School Tommy Ogilvie - previously coach at Kinnoull Tennis Club in Perth - has been impressed with Freya’s dedication and performances in the build-up to the prestigious event.
He told the PA: “Freya’s selection to represent Scotland is a fantastic achievement and everyone at Strathallan wishes her well for the Home Nations.
“Freya has enjoyed a good summer, picking up some great results. We have been helping to prepare Freya as much as possible for the event, and I know she is ready and looking forward to the challenge.”
Strathallan was recently named Tennis Scotland School of the Year and was a finalist in the Lawn Tennis Association’s Awards for Best Tennis School in 2022.
Another student, Marcus McLaren, from St Madoes, is continuing to go from strength to strength and is impressing on the circuit both north and south of the border. This week he has been competing in the Scottish Clay Court Championships.
