A list of the best places to visit in the UK has placed a Perthshire tourist attraction in fine company.
The Scottish Crannog Centre was this week “delighted” to be named alongside the likes of the Tower of London, Sky Garden and Royal Yacht Britannia.
The popular museum, housed on the shores of Loch Tay, proudly took its place in the top 10 of Trip Advisors’ Travellers Choice UK Best of the Best 2022.
After coming in at number nine, sandwiched between the National Railway Museum and The British Museum, director Mike Benson shared his pride.
“We just really appreciate everybody’s support in coming to see us, and being a part of our Crannog Community,” he told the PA. “It’s brilliant that the efforts of the team have been recognised.”
The Crannog Centre is open throughout the summer every day from 10am, with tours and hands-on activities as well as daytime and evening events.
Among the busy upcoming schedule, on July 7, is an open-air Shakespeare performance on the shore of Loch Tay.
A spokesperson said: “Prepare for an evening of mischief and hilarity, as five actors present an inventive take on this rip-roaring comedy, fit for all the family.
“Touring the UK this summer, this Shakespearean classic will be getting the full Three Inch Fools treatment. Expect fast-paced drama, endless costume changes, and much music-making along the way.”
On July 16 and 17 there will be a summer festival of fun and games – Celtic Summer – featuring circus school activities, a wild ‘boar’ hunt and much more.
Every Wednesday night throughout July and August there will be Crannog Craic music nights featuring local musicians and storytellers.
