Perthshire golfer Gregor Graham hit top form at the weekend to claim the Dutch Junior Open title in style.
The Blairgowrie member produced brilliance at Toxandria Golf Club to finish three shots clear of his nearest challenger.
Graham (18) carded impressively consistent rounds of 68, 69, 68 and 69 for a 14-under par total, which ensured he remained above second-placed Oscar Holm Bredkjaer of Denmark.
This victory was extra special for Graham, who has been on the road to recovery from a frustrating injury picked up while out at Midland College in America.
“I tore part of my Achilles tendon on the left side,” Graham explained. “I’ve been on and off all year since January.
“It has been a pretty rough year so far. I came home early from America and started treatment on it.
“I was playing in America all the time and then that was taken away because of the injury.
“I still get little niggles, but it’s getting there and, to be honest, I’m just happy that I’m actually playing.
“Overall, it was just amazing to get a win again. It was a fun experience and the tournament was so cool.”
Crisp wedge play and a hot putter ensured Graham’s name remained at the top of the leaderboard.
“At the start of the week I struggled a little with getting used to the swing,” he admitted. “It was a little uncomfortable.
“But after a couple of days I was dialled in with my wedges. My wedge play and putting was really good.
“Even if I hit a couple of loose tee shots, I was still able to capitalise. I could’ve been even lower because I was giving myself so many opportunities.”
It was double delight in the Netherlands as, in the girls’ event, Scotland’s Carmen Griffiths also took top honours.
Graham said: “It’s always nice to see others from the country doing well.”
Graham’s triumph capped off a fine couple of weeks for the family on the golf course after younger brother Connor (15) stunningly won the Junior Open at Monifieth.
“It is absolutely amazing for Connor and I’m so proud of him,” he told the PA.
“What he is doing this year has just been so good to see. I love when the family is doing well.
“I’m happy that I was able to get a win too so he can’t have all the bragging rights!”
After a short break this week, Graham will soon be back in action at the Scottish Men’s.
