Perthshire farmer 'shocked and angry' after quad bike and trailer stolen from site

Perthshire farmers have been reminded to be on alert after a quad bike and trailer were stolen from a farm near Braco last week.

Police officers are appealing for information after the theft at Beannie Farm, off the A822, which occurred between 7pm and 9.25pm on Thursday, December 22.

The vehicle swiped was a red Honda with a black seat box on the back.

It was fitted with a tracking device and has since been recovered by police.

However, the distinctive tri-axle livestock trailer – a silver Hudson DM35146 which had the registration plate ‘SL20 NZB’ at the time of its disappearance – is still missing.

The farm’s Emily Dawson said Police Scotland informed them earlier this week that the quad bike has been recovered and that officers are currently carrying out forensic work on it.

Emily believes those responsible for the theft probably put the quad in the back of a van and towed the trailer.

Three men were captured prowling about the yard by a security camera at the farm.

Emily said: “I’m shocked and very angry at these people for doing this. The police think the van was stolen as well.

“If anyone has seen anything can they please tell the police. The trailer is not the most common – most people have Ifor Williams livestock trailers so I would say it is more distinctive.

“The guys we bought the quad from have been really good and brought one out for us to have a loan of because we would be stuck without a quad.

“We are presuming the thieves put the bike in the van because that is where the police found it but the trailer could be anywhere by now.

“It’s just horrible knowing they have been snooping about the farm.”

Police Scotland Constable Mathew Ross said: “I am appealing to anyone who has seen either vehicle or who has any information which may assist in our enquiries to get in touch.

”So far we have established that a white Iveco Daily van was seen in the area at the time of the theft, so anyone who saw the van or who may have dash-cam footage from the area can contact officers via 101 quoting incident number 3503 of December 22.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
