Perthshire curlers celebrate stunning gold medal triumph at the World Junior Championships

Emotional Perthshire curlers celebrated a dramatic and stunning gold medal win at the World Junior Curling Championships this morning.

Holly Wilkie-Milne from Perth and Laura Watt from Auchterarder were representing Scotland with Team Henderson - alongside skip Fay Henderson and Robyn Munro - in Fussen, Germany.

And it turned out to be an experience they will remember forever after defeating Japan 9-7 to clinch gold and become champions of the world.

Those watching live and from back home were treated to a nerve-wracking finish to the contest.

The Scots had scored a three at the ninth end to level the match at 7-7 before keeping cool in the last to add a two.

That sparked emotional scenes of delight on the ice as the achievement quickly started to sink in.

Both Wilkie-Milne and Watt are familiar faces at Perth’s Dewars Centre and will return to the region with their name etched in the history books.

Full coverage in Tuesday’s PA.
