NBL veteran Jesse Wagstaff is set to miss the Perth Wildcats' next game after receiving a suspension for unduly rough play.
In the Wildcats' loss to Melbourne United on Friday night, Wagstaff set a screen that knocked Lachlan Barker to the ground in the first quarter.
Wagstaff's hit left Barker with a game-ending concussion and was categorised as "careless, high impact and high contact" by the game review panel.
The panel has proposed a two-game ban but if Wagstaff enters an early guilty plea he will miss only one game.
Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman said six-time NBL champion Wagstaff had approached him to check on Barker's welfare after Friday's match with Perth.
"Jesse's been a hell of a player in this league and he sets solid screens," Vickerman told reporters.
"The person that Jesse is, I'm sure there way no malice in what he did."
Wagstaff's ban is the first of the NBL season, which began earlier this month.
The Wildcats (3-1) face the Tasmania JackJumpers on Saturday for their next match.
If the Wildcats' skipper unsuccessfully challenges his charge, he will also miss the clash with South East Melbourne Phoenix on October 28.
