Homicide detectives have charged a 27-year-old man with murdering another man in Perth's inner-north.
Police said there was an altercation between the pair on Saturday night at a unit on Alexander Drive in Yokine, where both men lived.
It is alleged the 47-year-old victim was wounded.
Police said Samuel Dudley Smart, 27, left the scene and the victim died before his body was found several hours later by another resident at the complex, about 6 kilometres north of Perth's CBD.
St John Ambulance confirmed the man was dead when they arrived at the scene about 10:30pm and called police to attend.
Mr Smart appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon, charged with murder.
Mr Smart's Aboriginal Legal Service lawyer asked for his name to be suppressed, as the accused man and the deceased were related through marriage and there were concerns about safety and retaliation.
But the magistrate said family members would already know about the situation and he couldn't see the point of a suppression order.
Mr Smart was not required to enter a plea to the charge, and will re-appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court next month.
