A 38-year-old Perth man has been charged with manslaughter after deliberately lighting a fire which exploded, killing a 23-year-old man.
Jack Kinneen had been four-wheel-driving with friends at Pinjar, north of Perth, on September 22 when they came across a fire near a bush track.
When Mr Kinneen approached the fire it exploded.
He suffered serious injuries and despite the efforts of his friends and ambulance crews, died at the scene.
Police allege the blaze was deliberately lit by the 38-year-old in a way to cause an explosion.
On Tuesday he was arrested at suburban Banksia Grove and charged with manslaughter.
He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
