Perth Leisure Pool to close for five days’ worth of planned maintenance

Perth Leisure Pool will be closed to the public at the end of the month to allow five days’ worth of planned maintenance to take place.

Operator Live Active Leisure (LAL) announced that the full-facility closure will take place the week after the October school holidays, from Monday, October 24 to Wednesday, October 26.

As a result of the repair works the swimming lessons scheduled for those days have been cancelled.

The leisure venue will then partially reopen on Thursday with the flumes and some other facilities to remain closed off for another 48 hours.

The venue will fully reopen on Saturday, October 29.

A statement from LAL on Monday read: “We’d like to let you know that we have some planned maintenance work taking place at Perth Leisure Pool from Monday, October 24 to Friday, October 28.

“This work will affect the opening of the facilities and swimming lessons.

“The whole venue will be closed from Monday, October 24 to Wednesday, October 26. All swimming lessons will be cancelled on Monday 24, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday, October 26.

“The venue will reopen on Thursday, October 27 and swimming lessons will resume from this date.

“However, the flumes and health suite will remain closed on October 27-28, with these facilities returning to normal operating hours from Saturday, October 29.

“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused, if you have any questions please contact Perth Leisure Pool on 01738 454654 and a member of the team will be happy to help.”

Fair City residents will also be unable to access the Olympia in Dundee – a typical alternative for families to the Perth facility - as it remains shut to undergo a major programme of repairs, which got under way in August.

In February Perth and Kinross Council made a financial commitment to delivering the Fair City’s new pool and ice rink when councillors met virtually to set PKC’s capital budget.

The report stated that £90 million facility - which would replace Perth Leisure Pool and Dewars Centre - was scheduled to open in 2027/28.
