Perth Glory sign former Tottenham, QPR midfielder

Perth Glory have made a late transfer-window signing, luring English midfielder Luke Amos to the club for the rest of the A-League Men season.

Amos came through the youth ranks at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, eventually making his senior debut in a 2016 friendly against Juventus. During his time with Spurs, the 27-year-old had loan stints at Southend United, Stevenage and Queens Park Rangers, eventually joining the latter on a permanent basis in 2020. The former England U18 international went on to take his tally of Championship appearances for the west London club to more than 80 before completing a move to Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in 2023.

Amos is signed until the end of the season, with the Glory having the option to extend the deal by a further year.

"I'm just looking to play football, to get out there and show what I can do," Amos said in a statement.

"This group of players is growing and coming together and I'm delighted to be a part of that.

"I'm so hungry to do well.

"I've seen what the A-League can do for players' careers and as soon as the opportunity to come to the A-League came about, it was something that I was very keen to do."

Amos was highly recommended Perth by Tottenham assistant and former Central Coast Mariners coach Nick Montgomery.

"Luke has a great pedigree having developed through the academy system at Spurs and then established himself at Queens Park Rangers," Glory football director Stan Lazaridis said.

"He's played at a very high level throughout his career to date and we're very confident that he will be a big asset for us as we look to continue to improve between now and the end of the year."

Perth currently sit second last on the table with just two wins and four draws to show from 17 games under first-year coach David Zdrilic.

They'll be back in action on Saturday night when they face Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
