Authorities are investigating an incident which saw two divers allegedly left in the ocean by a tour operator during a group trip in Western Australia.
As reported by ABC News, the two divers were found some two to three nautical miles off the coast of Perth. They were spotted in the water by a crew member aboard a Rottnest ferry, which was on its way to Hillarys Boat Harbour in the city’s north.
It’s understood the men — who were taking part in a tour operated by Perth Diving Academy based at the harbour — were in the water for several hours before they were rescued.
The incident took place on Sunday, March 2 over the Labour Day long weekend in WA.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) confirmed it was aware of an incident and was investigating.
“Incidents involving passengers on board domestic commercial vessels must be reported to AMSA,” it said in a statement, per ABC News.
“AMSA takes the safety of passengers and crew very seriously and will not hesitate to take swift and strong action should a breach of safety regulations or procedures be identified.”
Under marine safety regulations, regulated commercial vessels are required to file an incident alert within four hours and submit a detailed report within three days, per 9News.
Perth Diving Academy said it was unable to comment as investigations are underway, the publication reported.
