Perth boxer Luke Bibby feeling in peak form ahead of representing Scotland later this month

Perth’s Luke Bibby is preparing to pull on the Scotland vest again this month and is urging the home support to give him as much backing as possible.

The Perth Railway Boxing Club member will be involved in a dual international contest with Ireland on Saturday, March 18.

Ten international contests will take place at the event being held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in North Lanarkshire.

Bibby (22), who is a member of Scotland’s elite squad, said: “Training has been superb off the back of two high level training camps.

“The first was over in the Netherlands with the Dutch team and then a week’s sparring camp in Glasgow with the army boxing team.

“I’m also currently on assessment for Team GB and have had two assessments over the last couple of weeks.

“I feel I’m in peak form going into the dual international with Ireland and then a tournament in Lithuania which follows.”

Boxing Scotland performance director and joint national coach, Craig McEvoy, said: “We hope to have a big turnout to cheer on some of the country’s top boxers at the beginning of what can be another massive year for Scottish boxing.”

Tickets are priced at £25 and can be bought either at the door of the event (doors open 6.30pm, start time 7pm) or beforehand directly from the participating Scottish boxers.
