Person trapped in hoist rescued with 30 metre ladder on Camden Street

A person was rescued with a 30 metre ladder after they became trapped in a hoist which had been raised well above buildings on Camden Street.

Dublin Fire Brigade came to the aid of the person who became trapped in the air after the machine became disabled. A video uploaded on Dublin Fire Brigade's twitter page showed that the top of the hoist was almost twice the height of Devitt's Pub which is next to it.

The DFB tweeted: "A person was rescued from a hoist on Camden Street yesterday after the cage unexpectedly tipped over and the machine became disabled. A thirty-metre ladder was dispatched and Firefighters safely removed the operator from the machine and lowered them to the ground."

Recently, a derelict building was left "extensively damaged" after going up in flames in north Dublin yesterday evening. The blaze happened on the Church Road in Mulhuddart, and emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9:40pm.

Thankfully, no one was injured, and the fire was under control by Dublin Fire Brigade by 11:30pm. It comes as firefighters in Dublin say they are facing an increase in anti-social nuisance fires as the summer solstice approaches.

A crew from Dublin Fire Brigade was called out to deal with a fence that was set ablaze along the banks of the Royal Canal in the city this evening (June 13) - one of a number of nuisance fires that they have to deal with during the longer evenings and school holidays. A fire was started among rubbish at the foot of the fence and quickly spread, causing the fire brigade to hurry to the scene.
