Person tragically dies after being hit by train at Scots station

A person has tragically died after being struck by a train at a station in West Dunbartonshire this afternoon.

Police and ambulance services raced to Bowling station at roughly 3.21pm after receiving reports of a casualty on the railway line.

Sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene, with authorities now working to identify the victim and inform their next of kin.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Following the incident, Scotrail confirmed that train services between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh will be subject to cancellations and delays.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Bowling railway station at 3.21pm on 5 April following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”
