Three people are "shaken up" after they were hospitalised with serious injuries during a violent home invasion in Weston Creek, ACT police say.
Police allege two men broke into a residence in Stirling earlier this month and bashed the occupants over the head multiple times.
The burglars are accused of using different objects, including a picture frame and a "Taser-like device", during the incident about 5.20am on August 3.
Police said all three residents were taken to the emergency department as a result of the alleged altercation.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said they wanted to take caution and did not reveal the genders of the victims.
After investigation, police said they found one of the alleged burglars, a 34-year-old man, in a black BMW in Kambah on Thursday.
When police attempted a traffic stop, the BMW allegedly took off.
A short time later, police said the vehicle was allegedly seen with another white Volkswagen Golf. The 34-year-old was seen getting into the second car with another man.
Police attempted another traffic stop, but the Golf allegedly drove off after.
"Due to the risk to the community, a pursuit was not commenced," ACT Policing said.
About 4.30 pm the same day, police saw the 34-year-old standing at a bus stop in Curtin and arrested him.
Police said they charged the alleged burglar with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (joint commission), causing grievous bodily harm (joint commission), going equipped for theft, breach of bail, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday.
ACT Policing said enquiries to identify and locate the second man allegedly responsible for the Stirling home invasion, and the driver of the white Volkswagen Golf, were ongoing.
