A person was struck by a train on a major Edinburgh line on Saturday morning as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Major delays were reported after the incident on the line between the capital and London, with services temporarily starting from Newcastle. Rail provider LNER announced to customers that 'significant disruption' can be expected.
Issuing an update on Twitter shortly after 12pm, they said disruption caused by the emergency incident has eased and services will return to normal for the remainder of the day.

They said: "LNERUpdate disruption caused by a person being hit by a train earlier today between Newcastle and Morpeth has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem. Your ticket will be valid on @LumoTravel services, @CrossCountryUK Services and @TPExpressTrains."
It is currently unclear exactly where the pedestrian was struck by the train. Earlier in the day, LNER warned customers: "We are experiencing significant disruption to our train services between Newcastle and Edinburgh this morning due to a person being hit by a train north of Newcastle."
A number of delays and cancellations were made while a rail replacement was sourced, with LNER adding how they were unable to accommodate all of their customers on bus replacement services.
The line between Edinburgh and London is busier than usual as Easter Weekend has resulted in flocks of locals making their way cross country for some down time.
