A person has tragically been struck by a train between Airdrie and Bathgate stations this evening.
Emergency crews have raced to the area with trains on the line between Helensburgh Central and Bathgate via Airdrie have been cancelled until at least 10.30pm.
The incident happened at around 6.30pm, with rail lines remaining closed.
ScotRail said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Bathgate and Airdrie. Our services between Helensburgh Central and Bathgate via Airdrie will be cancelled, delayed or revised while we work with the emergency services."

Replacement bus services are currently in place for passengers with full information available on the JourneyCheck website.
A statement on the site reads: "Due to a person being hit by a train between Bathgate and Airdrie all lines are closed. Disruption is expected until 22:30 26/02."
