Emergency services surrounded a busy road after a person was pulled from a flipped car.
Cheshire Police closed the southbound carriageway of the Southern Expressway in Runcorn at 5.59pm on Monday (October 17) following a "serious incident". Once emergency services arrived at the scene they found a silver car had flipped onto an embankment alongside the busy road.
One person pulled from the car was rescued by firefighters and they provided casualty care. Paramedics then treated the driver before he was rushed to Aintree hospital with serious injuries.

A 29-year-old man from the area has since been arrested in relation to the collision and he is currently assisting officers.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "Officers attended the scene and on arrival they found a silver car which had come off the road and overturned on an embankment. One person was trapped in the car, they were released by firefighters and have been taken to Aintree hospital with serious injuries.
"A 29-year-old local man has since been arrested in relation to the collision and he is currently assisting officers."
More than a dozen police patrol and unmarked vehicles were spotted near the Hallwood Park turnoff, with vehicles being diverted off the road.
One ambulance, a rapid response paramedic car and an air ambulance vehicle are also at the scene along with two Cheshire Fire and Rescue engines.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 5.59pm on October 17, firefighters from Runcorn and Widnes were called to a road traffic collision on the Hallwood Link Road in Runcorn. On arrival, crews found a car which had overturned on an embankment.
"Firefighters stabilised the vehicle and rescued one person from the vehicle, providing casualty care and assisting paramedics with treatment prior to the individual being transported to hospital."
