A PERSON has been injured and a street in Aberdeen has been cordoned off following a spillage of “potentially hazardous materials”.
Emergency services were called to the report of a spillage at the South Esplanade East, in the Torry area of the city, on Thursday at around 1pm.
A casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene and their condition is currently unknown.
The street has reportedly been cordoned off, while three fire appliances and specialist hazmat (hazardous materials) resources were called to the scene.
Police confirmed the spillage has now been cleaned up and said there is no threat to the wider public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended South Esplanade East, Aberdeen on Thursday, 22 August, 2024, where a substance had spilled on the ground.
“The spillage was within a confined area and there was no threat to the wider public.
“The spillage has been cleared.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.18pm on Thursday, 22 August, to an incident on South Esplanade East, Aberdeen, involving potentially hazardous materials.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist hazmat resources to the scene.
“One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters have now left the scene after ensuring the area was safe.”
