A person has been hit by a train on the line between Liverpool and Widnes.
The person was struck between Liverpool South Parkway and Widnes. East Midlands Railway stated this means that trains are unable to run between the two stations and routes will be affected until 5pm.
Trains will have to divert and will not be able to call at South Parkway, Widnes or Warrington Central. The condition of the casualty is not yet known

A statement on the operator's website said: "Trains running through the area in both directions between Liverpool South Parkway and Widnes are currently unable to run. They will need to go via a diversion, and will not be able to call at Liverpool South Parkway, Widnes or Warrington Central.
"At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 17:00."
British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
