A person has been hit by a train between Glasgow Central station and Motherwell this morning.
National Rail confirmed news of the tragedy around 11am today (Friday).
Emergency services are currently attending the scene at Cambuslang station.

As a result, rail services between Glasgow Central and Lanark and Dalmuir and Motherwell/Cumbernauld have been disrupted.
Traffic information site INRIX reports that ScotRail, Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express services between Glasgow Central and Motherwell are currently suspended.
The INRIX alert reads: "Service suspended on ScotRail, Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express between Glasgow Central and Motherwell due to emergency services dealing with an incident at Cambuslang."

National Rail note that disruption is expected to last until 1pm this afternoon.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to Cambuslang station at 10.49am today (27 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
