A person tragically died after being hit by a train travelling through Leeds, closing all lines between Harrogate and Leeds railway stations.
The person was hit near Horsforth train station today at 6.43am (April 19). Multiple trainline services have been affected following the tragic incident.
Paramedics attended but the person was declared dead at the scene. British Transport Police (BTP) are now focussing on identifying the deceased and establishing the full circumstances surrounding the death.

A force spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Horsforth at 6.43am this morning (19 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
Replacement bus services were arranged by the railway companies so commuters could continue their travels.
