ScotRail services between Glasgow and Edinburgh cancelled as person dies

A RAILWAY line between Glasgow and Edinburgh was closed for several hours following the death of a person.

Emergency services were called to Polmont railway station at around 8.40am on Friday following the reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics were called to attend, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

ScotRail informed its passengers that the line between Falkirk High and Linlithgow was closed for several hours.

Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh were cancelled and delayed until the line reopened at around 11am on Friday.

Officers said they are not treating the incident as suspicious and that a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Polmont railway station at around 8.40am today (17 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”
