A person has died after being hit by a train at a Scots train station.
Emergency services raced to Coatdyke station in Coatbridge after the alarm was raised at around 5.39am this morning.
Ambulance crews attended but the individual was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
At around 7am this morning ScotRail services between Blairhill and Airdrie were disrupted while emergency services attended.
BTP officers are now working to identify the deceased.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances behind the death.
A BTP spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to Coatdyke station at 5.39am this morning (April 5) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
