"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."

A ScotRail statement said: "Due to emergency services dealing with an incident, services via Uddingston will be subject to delay and cancellation this morning. We are working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated."

They later added: "Emergency services have completed necessary investigations and the line has now been reopened via Uddingston. We're working hard to get services running again as normal, however some alterations may continue whilst we get crew and units back into the correct position."
