A person has died after being found near a railway line in North Wales. Officers from British Transport Police were called to the tracks near the Abergele & Pensarn station on Sunday morning (January 29, 2023) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, but, sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious. There were also several police vehicles at the scene with areas around a footbridge closed by police.
Transport for Wales also confirmed that train lines between Chester and Llandudno Junction were closed for several hours with bus replacement services offered. The service re-opened just after 12pm on Sunday.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Abergele & Pensarn station at 8.25am yesterday morning (29 January) following reports of a casualty near the tracks. Paramedics also attended, and, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner." Rail lines were re-opened by 11.35am yesterday.
