Persimmon Homes planning 400 Cornwall houses following land deal

Housing developer Persimmon has acquired land in Cornwall where it plans to build more than 400 new homes.

The site at Clodgey Lane in Helston was bought for an undisclosed sum and has outline planning permission for 404 properties of which 101 could be made available to a local housing association.

Plans include a mix of one-to-four bedroom homes, with detached, semi-detached and terraced properties.

Persimmon said the project could deliver “vast” community benefits, including contributions to open space, as well as improvements to local education and transport.

Adam Church, managing director of Persimmon’s Cornwall division, added the project could see the creation of “significant new job opportunities” for the lifespan of the site in the southern part of the county.

Mr Church said: “The business is working hard to ensure that the street scenes on the development reflect the local vernacular, and contribute to a scheme everyone in Helston can be proud of.

“This is a site that we have been hoping to purchase for several years, and I would like to thank my team and everyone who has played a part in this process for their hard work in securing this acquisition.”
