Premier League legend Alan Shearer has lauded Everton manager Sean Dyche, James Tarkowski and Amadou Onana for their roles in the 1-0 win over Arsenal.
The newly-appointed Blues boss got off to the perfect start as they dented the Premier League leaders' title hopes. Tarkowski's second-half header was the difference as the Gunners were handed their first defeat since September - ending Everton's winless run.
His goal was his first since arriving at Goodison Park and Onana continued to endear himself to fans with another eye-catching performance. He helped thwart the north Londoners' threat going forward accompanied by Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye in a dominant display.
Their performance against Mikel Arteta didn't go unnoticed as the all-time leading goalscorer highlighted the trio for praise.
Featuring as part of a 3-4-3, the 30-year-old defender came in for plaudits from Shearer, he said speaking to Premier League.com: "Dominated Eddie Nketiah at one end and scored the winner at the other."
Onana, who emphasised his desire to stay at Goodison Park after January interest, was among the standouts during the Blues' first win since August. Shearer hailed his performance, he added: "A tireless display against Arsenal. Ran himself into the ground."
The win for Everton moved them temporarily out of the relegation zone ahead of the rest of the fixtures. Leeds' defeat on Sunday meant they remained in the bottom three but only on goal difference as the triumph provided a much-needed confidence boost.
"His game plan worked to perfection, as his side earned a vital win in his first match at the helm," the 52-year-old claimed.
Also in the team of the week was Ruben Neves for his role in Wolves' 3-0 win over Liverpool.
