Perfect House, Secret Location on Channel 4: What it's about, where it's filmed and what the 'big twist' is

A brand new property series is heading to Channel 4 this week and it is set to be completely different to any other TV show of its kind. Perfect House, Secret Location begins tonight, Thursday, March 17 and is hosted by Channel 4 F1 presenter Steve Jones.

The new show, which will run for four weeks, takes on an unconventional approach to house-hunting in a bid to 'transform people's live'. What makes it stand out amongst the network's other property programmes like Kirstie and Phil's Love It or List It, Grand Designs and Location, Location, Location is that the series has a unique twist.

Each episode will follow a different family who are keen to find their dream home but can't agree on a location. After hearing what the prospective buyers are searching for in their new abodes, Steve takes the families to view a range of stunning homes that they may have never considered viewing before.

But the big twist is, the families - and the viewers - will have absolutely zero idea where any of the properties are located. This is because the aim of the show is to make people fall in love with the home first and foremost, rather than the location. This means it is a totally different approach to the likes of Location, Location, Location, where property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer focus on finding buyers' homes in their desired location.

With no idea where they are going, Steve takes the blindfold house hunters on a mystery tour around the UK - with filming take place across many different types of properties in locations all across the country. To enhance the location guessing-game, there will be playful clues and some red-herrings as to where the properties are.

At the end of the show, Steve finally reveals each of the homes' whereabouts, and the buyers then have to choose their two favourite properties to revisit. Then, taking into consideration how much they love the home vs how far they'll have to move, the families then have to decide if they'll relocate to the area to secure their perfect home.

Presenter Steve Jones said: “I love a property show and I’m honoured to have been asked to present such an exciting and original format in Perfect House, Secret Location. I can’t wait to guide our families on their magical mystery tours."

The programme will also open viewers and house hunters eyes when discovering how far budgets can stretch across different parts of the country.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 added: “The 21st Century has given more of us the freedom to live, work and play wherever we like, which provides the set-up for this fun new property show. With the brilliant and well-travelled Steve Jones as our guide, the series will simultaneously have us all guessing along while inspiring our sense of adventure."

Perfect House, Secret Location begins on Thursday night (March 17) at 8pm and will run for four weeks.
