In response to multiple wildfires burning in Southern California, Pepperdine University has announced the cancellation of in-person classes on Wednesday. The Los Angeles-based university made the announcement via social media, stating that all scheduled in-person classes on the Malibu and Calabasas campuses will not meet in person. Additionally, employees are advised to work remotely if possible.
Both the main campus in Malibu and the Calabasas campus are closed due to ongoing firefighting efforts and associated road closures. Despite the proximity of the Palisades Fire, which has burned nearly 3,000 acres and is expected to grow, school officials have reassured that there is currently no immediate threat to the Malibu campus, located approximately three miles away from the fire.
