Peppa Pig has introduced a same-sex couple for the first time in the show's 18-year history with the move being praised by many.
The introduction follows a petition calling for LGBTQIA+ representation in the show which has been airing since May 2004 on Channel 5.
The iconic moment, according to the Express, saw Penny sketching two polar bears in dresses before saying, "I’m Penny Polar Bear. I live with my mummy and my other mummy. One mummy is a doctor, and one mummy cooks spaghetti. I love spaghetti."

However when the news was announced, not everyone was happy with some stating they were only introducing the same-sex couple to "tick boxes." But others saw that it was there to introduce kids to same-sex couples in order for the community to become more accepted.
One said: "Same sex couples occur in the real world, so I think it's cool to introduce that fact to kids in a way that I am sure is handled with due care."

Another added: "They should have done this years ago. I don't know why people are so mad about this? They didn't get mad when they showed a straight couple like a mother and a father. Hypocrisy" wrote a third whilst a fourth sarcastically added: "Well what do you know? My kids saw the first same-sex couple on Peppa Pig and the world didn’t end."
