Liverpool's assistant manager Pep Lijnders has warned Arsenal that Liverpool will do everything they possibly can to reach the final of the Carabao Cup tonight.
The semi-final second leg takes place at the Emirates Stadium this evening, with the aggregate scores level at 0-0.
Arsenal held out for a draw at Anfield last week after Granit Xhaka was sent off in the first half, giving the Gunners a real chance of making their second final under Mikel Arteta's leadership on home turf.
However, Liverpool aren't going to go away easily, and Lijnders has warned Arsenal that the Reds have been in this position before and have come out on top.
"Because how I said before, it’s semi-final over two legs. It’s decided over two legs, it’s half-time. It’s 0-0, if it’s 2-2 or 0-0, it’s the same anyway especially because there are no away goals. We proved already a lot of times that with a 0-0 at home," he said.
"Bayern Munich [in 2019], we went there with 0-0 and we win there and go on to do the things we did. What I’m trying to say is, we know what we are capable of and we know what we want.
"In football, there are always two games. One is the scoreboard and second is your identity, your style. The first one the scoreboard, you can draw, you can lose. But the second one, you can never ever lose."
Lijnders continued by explaining that Liverpool will aim to play a lot with the ball at the Emirates Stadium and put the Gunners on the back foot.
"We go to Arsenal to attack them with the ball and without the ball and that’s what we want. We are Liverpool Football Club and our team proved that we want – I said before – but a lot of people didn’t believe when we spoke about the League Cup," he added.
"We want to attack this competition and that we want to reach finals. So we are now here, semi-final, we can reach Wembley and we should try with everything we have to reach it.
"Because again, the journey for the fans to London to prepare a final, that’s what this club is all about. I said before, as a player of Liverpool, we won a lot but national cups if you want to become a true legend you need to go for the national cups as well."
The winner of the tie will face Chelsea in the final which is set to be played at Wembley on February 27.
