Pep Guardiola urges Man City fans NOT to boo UEFA anthem ahead of Champions League final

Pep Guardiola has urged Manchester City fans not to boo the Champions League anthem tonight and help their team finally conquer Europe.

Fans continue to jeer the pre-match anthem, despite City winning its appeal against a two-year UEFA ban for alleged financial fair play breaches. Guardiola called on fans inside the Ataturk Stadium to embrace the anthem and forget their anger towards UEFA, as the Blues aim for an historic Treble.

"It's a day to celebrate," said Guardiola. "What's happened in the pas is in the past and it’s an incredible competition. We're here to support what UEFA is doing and we're not going to boo any more. So support the team, support the game and try to have fun."

Guardiola, whose side lost to Chelsea in the final two years ago, is convinced his players are ready to finally lift the iconic trophy and write their names in history. "I have a feeling we are ready," said Guardiola. "The players will give everything, knowing the opponent, so yeah - just go for it."

Guardiola added: "One week ago we won the FA Cup. In that moment we were just preparing a final, we'd lost two times against Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea and had some doubts.

"It is not the same but they play five in the back, Chelsea and Inter, the approach was defensive too but of course Chelsea also had incredibly good patterns to punish us. It is not similar but there are some things. Hopefully we can attack a little bit better.

"How have players who played grown]In that time when we played the Cl final we had an incredibly good season and were playing really good that year. Maybe for the fact they are there again and as much as you arrive in the final maybe you are lucky and can win it. it's difficult to just arrive once in your lifetime and win. What is important is to be there and having this opportunity you want to take it."

City defender Ruben Dias said: "We love the pressure. For a long time, the pressure has been on and we love it That’s what these games need. You have to embrace it and never forget to be yourself."

As for Inter, they secured a 3-0 win over arch rivals AC Milan to reach this stage of the competition. Simone Inzaghi's men finished third in Serie A and have already secured their place in the Champions League next season. Nevertheless, they will be eager to win the tournament for the first time since 2010.
