Pep Guardiola refuses to rule Liverpool out of Premier League title race as Man City boss warns Arsenal

Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City simply have to win every game to lift an unprecedented fourth Premier League title.

The champions moved within a point of Arsenal by cruising to a 4-0 victory at Brighton on Thursday night and crucially boast a game in hand over the Gunners.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both dropped points in April, a period of the season in which City are renowned for their relentless run of form.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp all-but ruled his side out of the title picture following their 2-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night but Guardiola warned both his side and Arsenal that dropped points could well be on the horizon for them too.

“What happened to Liverpool, two defeats in a row, it can happen to Arsenal, it can happen to us,” he said.

“What is important is still we are there. There is a lot of games to play.”

He added: "What we have done in the past, it does not mean we will do it in the future. There are five Premier League games left, we know the margins are so tight.

“We have to win every one. Each game we are closer.”

City travel to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Sunday after Arsenal meet Tottenham in north London derby. Liverpool play West Ham on Saturday.
