Pep Guardiola provides injury update on Man City star Kevin De Bruyne amid Arsenal title battle

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the fitness of two of his key players ahead of tomorrow night's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

The reigning champions welcome the Hammers to the Etihad Stadium the day after Arsenal's clash with Chelsea, knowing they will need to win to regain their status as league leaders, should the Gunners defeat their London rivals.

Over the weekend, City defeated Fulham to go above Mikel Arteta's side, but they were forced to do so without Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake. De Bruyne missed the game having felt some discomfort during the 4-1 win over Arsenal last week whilst Ake hasn't played since the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

Ake trained with his teammates on Monday whilst De Bruyne is yet to return to training, Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday. "Nathan trained with us yesterday and feels good," he said. "Kevin started to move but hasn't trained with the team."

Asked if De Bruyne could feature against West Ham, Guardiola said: "We have training again at 4pm and we will see."

Should Wednesday's game come too soon, the Citizens will be hoping to welcome the duo back for Saturday's game with Leeds United.
