Pep Guardiola looks set to unleash new signing Erling Haaland when Manchester City take on Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday afternoon. The striker joined City from Borussia Dortmund earlier in the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Star, after easing Haaland into action in pre-season, the Norway international will likely be in the XI against the Reds.
The match, that will take place at Leicester City's King Power Stadium, is an early chance for Liverpool or City to strike a potential psychological blow to their Premier League title rival. Liverpool are yet to win the Community Shield under Klopp.
Liverpool boss Klopp could do the same as Guardiola and select his new big-money striker in Darwin Nunez when the Reds take on City on Saturday for the first piece of silverware up for grabs in the new season.

Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Liverpool will be without Alisson Becker for the match against City as he recovers from injury while Caoimhin Kelleher is also out with injury. Third-choice Adrian is set to be the man in goal to stop the new City forward from scoring.
Virgil van Dijk is expected to start in the Liverpool defence to try and get the better of the Norwegian, like he did when the Reds took on RB Salzburg in the Champions League back in 2019. Haaland has since go on to name the Dutchman as the toughest opponent he has come up against during his young career.
The new Premier League season starts on Friday, August 5 with Liverpool travelling to Craven Cottage a day later to take on Championship winners Fulham as the Reds look to begin their title charge.
