Pep Guardiola makes telling admission over Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

Pep Guardiola has described Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as 'exceptional' ahead of the Reds renewing their rivalry with Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday afternoon. The match will take place at Leicester City's King Power Stadium.

The City manager also highlighted how he expects a 'lot of clubs involved' in the race for the Premier League in the upcoming season. City have won the last two titles, but Liverpool came to within one point of them last term and will look to go one better this time around.

Guardiola's side will start the season off as favourites to make it their third Premier League title in a row, but Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool want to put the disappointment of the end of last campaign behind them by winning their 20th title.

In a telling admission over the talents of Salah, Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: "I'm not saying anything new because we know it. He's exceptional, an incredible threat. We try to win the game."

The City boss expects a tough race for the title next season: "I don't know, I promise you, if I was able to predict the future I'd let you know. Normally in Premier League there are many teams and you expect that.

"Always before I repeat the same, I expect a lot of clubs involved, the quality they all have in terms of managers, players, history. I don't know."
