Pep Guardiola has made Champions League history after Manchester City heroically held on to progress past Atletico Madrid and into the semi-finals of this year's competition.
City travelled to the Wanda Metropolitano for the second leg of their quarter-final against Atletico. It proved to be a titanic clash, with the reigning La Liga champions putting Guardiola's men under huge pressure.
Led by starring performances from centre-backs John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, City managed to keep the game goalless. And was enough to send them into the semi-finals for the second successive season, with Kevin de Bruyne's strike having put them one goal up in the first leg.
They will now face Real Madrid in the last four with a place in the showpiece final in Paris at stake. But Guardiola has an advantage over the other coaches who remain in this year's competition.
That is because when City take to the pitch at the Etihad Stadium in two weeks, Guardiola will take charge of his ninth Champions League semi-final. That number is a record in the tournament's history, beating Roma boss Jose Mourinho by one.
Like Mourinho, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has also managed in eight semi-finals, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reached this stage four times and Villarreal manager Unai Emery having never reached the last four before.

Guardiola's first appearance in the Champions League semi-finals came in his very first season as Barcelona manager. They defeated Lyon in the Last 16 and Bayern Munich in the quarters to set up a semi-final clash with Chelsea, which they won on away goals.
After winning the trophy that season, Guardiola again reached the last four with Barcelona the next campaign. This time it was Stuttgart and Arsenal who fell in the knockout stages before Mourinho's Inter Milan claimed a famous win over the Catalan giants.
In his penultimate campaign at the Nou Camp, the Gunners failed to take revenge in the last 16 before Shakhtar Donetsk were defeated in the quarter-finals. Barca would take on and beat Real Madrid in the semi-finals in a El Clasico match-up, before Manchester United were defeated in the final.
Guardiola was unable to repeat that success in his final campaign in Catalonia as Chelsea claimed a shock draw at the Nou Camp to progress. That tie came after Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan had both been easily dispatched with in the earlier knockout stages.
After taking time out of management, Guardiola was just as successful at Bayern Munich, reaching the semi-finals in all three of his seasons at the Allianz Arena. First it was Arsenal and United who were defeated in the knockout stages, but Real Madrid hammered Bayern in their semi-final.
The next season, it was former club Barcelona who knocked out the Bundesliga giants in the semi-finals after Guardiola secured dominant wins over Porto and Shakhtar. Atletico Madrid completed the Spanish sweep the following campaign, claiming a win on away goals.
Guardiola would have to wait five more years for his eighth semi-final appearance, with the Spaniard unable to get past the quarter-finals in his first four campaigns at City. They finally broke that duck last season by defeating Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stages.
City triumphed over French super-squad PSG in the semi-finals last year before losing the final to Chelsea. Having gone five years without a semi-final place, Guardiola has now secured two in as many years, breaking Mourinho's record in the process.
