Guardiola makes Laporte request with Dias injured
Ruben Dias’ injury comes as a big blow at a crucial time in the season for City. Having been forced out of the Manchester derby and the second leg against Sporting Lisbon, the defender faces around a month out with a hamstring problem.
With crucial games on all fronts on the horizon – not least that clash against Liverpool at the start of April – Dias will be a big miss, although it does open the door for Aymeric Laporte. The Spain international finds himself back in the side as injuries take their toll on the Blues.

Laporte has had to remain patient for his chances - despite being so impressive after joining the club, since Dias’ arrival, John Stones has been favoured as the Portuguese’s partner at the heart of the defence. As Laporte gets his chance now though, Pep Guardiola has made a special request for the 27-year-old to continue learning in his role.
Guardiola has shown he can make Erling Haaland even better
All the talk this summer looks set to surround Erling Haaland, and where he might end up. Europe’s top clubs are circling in anticipation of his release clause at Borussia Dortmund coming into effect.
The Manchester Evening News understands City are now in pole position to sign the Norwegian. Although plenty of big names have been linked, lots of them now appear to be falling by the wayside.
And that looks set to not only be great news for City, but also for Haaland. It means the 21-year-old could get the chance to work with the best manager in the world in Guardiola, who has already shown with three players how he can make the Dortmund superstar even better.
