Here are your Manchester City evening headlines for Saturday, April 2.
Guardiola laments missed opportunity against Burnley
Having seen their great rivals leapfrog them in the lunchtime kick-off, City wasted no time in reclaiming their position at the top of the Premier League table. Kevin De Bruyne’s goal after just five minutes settled any nerves, before Ilkay Gundogan’s goal midway through the first half confirmed the three points against Burnley.
Despite not adding to the scoreline thereafter, it was a comfortable afternoon’s work for Pep Guardiola’s side. They found themselves in cruise control at Turf Moor as they eased to victory, and moved back to the summit.

The City boss though was not entirely satisfied with his side, having seen them spurn chances to increase their lead. With Liverpool holding an advantage when it comes to goal difference, those chances could prove crucial in a tight title race.
Gundogan names most important player ahead of Liverpool clash
With Burnley out of the way, all attentions turn to what is set to be a crucial couple of weeks for City and their treble dreams. Along with their Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, those huge games against Liverpool in the league and FA Cup are fast approaching.
It’s a fortnight that could well make or break City’s season, with the business end of the season now in sight. Ahead of those pivotal four games, it was crucial the Blues reclaimed their place back at the top of the table.
They had Gundogan in part to thank for that, although the German named another player in his post-match interview who could well make the difference over the next four games. City will be hoping that turns out to be the case.
