Chelsea could look to part ways with Timo Werner in the summer transfer window after another frustrating season for the German forward.
The 26-year-old has made only 12 appearances in the Premier League this season - with just the one goal to his name in the process - casting doubt over his future with the Blues.
According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund hold a keen interest in Werner, although it is said that the Chelsea attacker's wage demands could prove to be an issue in sealing the move.
If Werner does indeed secure an exit from Chelsea, then Thomas Tuchel could be forced to look in the transfer market for a replacement, or at least someone who can play in the forward areas.
If reports from France are to be believed, then the Blues may have already identified their main attacking target ahead of the summer transfer window that opens in a few months' time.
According to a report from Footmercato on Tuesday, the west London club are 'keenly interested' in Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, with the Algerian available for around €40million (£33.2m) in the summer transfer window with his contract at the Etihad Stadium due to expire at the end of next season.
Chelsea have reportedly been 'working on the subject for several weeks' with Mahrez continuing to impress on the right-hand side of Man City's front three.
The 31-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions for City this season, so it's not like Chelsea need any convincing when it comes to trying to sign him - but Pep Guardiola's comments from 12 months ago could do just that.
Guardiola said this on Mahrez: "The last games were outstanding. He played really well. He has a special quality.
"He is a guy who dances on the pitch. He does not lose balls on the pitch. He makes the extra pass. He attracts opponents on the pitch and after he makes a pass in behind.
"He makes fantastic crosses, we know it. At Leicester, he was outstanding with Jamie Vardy. That's why we pushed for him. We hope he can continue."
Just over a month after these comments from Guardiola, Mahrez was asked about his future, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023.
He responded: "I don't really think about this, I'm good here at Man City, I love the club, everyone around it, I love the city.
"I concentrate on the team and trying to win things together and we will see."
