Pep Guardiola has already approved Chelsea Graham Potter appointment amid Thomas Tuchel sacking

Chelsea are searching for a new manager to replace Thomas Tuchel after the German was sacked by the club.

Brighton boss Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino are the two leading candidates to become the next Chelsea manager, football.london understands. The Blues are hoping to appoint a new manager quickly following Tuchel's departure after the German managed just 100 games in charge at Stamford Bridge.

It has been a hectic start to life as Chelsea co-owner for Todd Boehly with more changes set to take place just days a week after a busy summer transfer window which saw the west London outfit spend more than any other Premier League club. football.london understands Potter is travelling to London to hold talks with Chelsea over the vacant managerial position after Brighton to do so.

There has been plenty of reaction to the decision taken by the Blues' ownership, but if Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's comments on Potter are anything to go by, Chelsea would be appointing a brilliant replacement for Tuchel. Guardiola has delivered a major verdict on the Brighton manager in the past, admitting he is a 'big fan' of his work with the Seagulls.

Guardiola said: "Brighton are a joy to watch, a joy to analyse. At the same time, when you see them you are concerned about their quality.

"We [City] will need to be at the highest standards and level to compete against them. I'm absolutely a big fan of Graham Potter.

"Everyone plays in his positions, the ball comes to the positions, players move with freedom and everyone knows what they have to do. They have the courage to play everywhere."

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will appoint Potter as their new manager with Pochettino still in the running, though it looks as though the Brighton manager is Boehly's preference. A huge clash and London derby against Fulham awaits the Blues this weekend, but it leaves little time for the new boss to implement their ideas and tactics with the west Londoners playing catch up to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in the table.
