Pep Guardiola expecting more Man City twists in Premier League title race

Pep Guardiola is expecting more twists and turns in the Premier League title race as Manchester City look to stay in until the end.

After the excitement in recent weeks of City leapfrogging Arsenal with victory at the Emirates, before surrendering their place days later with a draw at Nottingham Forest, there was relative calm at the top of the Premier League table. Arsenal beat Leicester on Saturday afternoon before City moved back to three points behind them with victory in the teatime fixture at Bournemouth.

Guardiola has said the reigning champions need to be in contention with eight to 10 games remaining if they want to have a hope of a fifth title in six years, and with 14 matches to play they are on course. The City boss does not expect it to be straightforward for any team between now and the end of the season though - especially with the return of European football and the arrival of the FA Cup latter stages.

"We are in three competitions", he said. "In terms of the Premier League, we are close to arriving to the last ten games of the season. I had the feeling that in the Premier League many things are going to happen, everyone is going to drop points.

"We cannot drop many if we want to fight until the end."

Arsenal have the opportunity to stretch their lead at the top this week as they play Everton at home on Wednesday in their game in hand on City.
